Drops Cycling Team are delighted to announce the signatures of British duo Elizabeth Bennett and April Tacey.

Elizabeth Bennett joins the team after her successful stagiaire contract where she made a positive impression in both Ride London and The Women’s Tour of Scotland.

“I am incredibly excited and proud to be joining Drops for 2020 after my stagiaire contract with the team this year. I am especially looking forward to improving and pushing myself further and look feature in more UCI races on the continent.” Bennett commented.

April Tacey joins the team from UK team Brother UK – Fusion where she impressed racing on the domestic scene, the highlight being 2nd place at the Curlew Cup which new teammate Bennett won.

“I am really happy to be riding for Drops Cycling Team in 2020. I feel this will be a great move to further my development as I take a step up into the professional peloton. I like the team’s ethos and fighting spirit, it’s what attracted me to the team and I’m sure I will learn a lot next season.” Tacey said. “I am looking forward to getting stuck in and playing a part within the team, it’s also great being a British rider on a British team. I am super motivated and I will make sure I have a good winter behind me to be ready to give it 100% next year.”

Team Director, Bob Varney spoke about the signings. “As a Development team, it’s always a bittersweet feeling when your riders move on to the big time. But it’s what we do, and it’s what we feel we do well. Find and select riders with potential, provide the opportunities, back them, nurture them, support them, give them the confidence to achieve and move on to greater things. It’s our thing.”

“I’m delighted and very excited to have the opportunity to work with Lizzy Bennett and April Tacey next season. They are the two standout young British riders and I am looking forward to seeing how they develop under our guidance in the coming years. Both are talented. Both are determined. Both are tenacious. It bodes well.”
