Lisa Brennauer wins the German National Championships

Lisa Brennauer has become German Road Race champion for 2019. Winning the sprint from a select group at the race held at the Sachsenring. WNT-Rotor Pro Cycling were represented by Kathrin Hammes, Lin Teutenberg and Lisa for the road race.

A tough race with aggressive racing and attacks throughout, coming in to the final kilometres it was a group of around 10 riders with Lisa and our Lotto Ladies Tour winner Kathrin. With the advantage of having a team mate in the front group, Kathrin attacked in the final kilometre which allowed Lisa to sit back and save her legs for the sprint. As it all came back together Lisa had the legs to power to victory and pull on the coveted National Champion’s Jersey for the second time in her career.

“Nationals were on a quite hard circuit. Lots of up and down, no real flat section and a very long finish straight with a steep section before it became flat towards the line. Kathrin and Lin helped me out the whole day. Lin fought back a couple of times to continue working and both riders supported me a lot to be on top of the game the whole day, that saw riders dropping back from the front every lap. With a big attack in the final Kathrin couldn’t escape but do a perfect lead out from where I could open the sprint to the line and take the victory. It has been a great day of team work and I’m happy we could race to plan.” Lisa Brennauer

A fantastic win for Lisa after a little bit of disappointment at not being able to retain her German title in individual time trial earlier in the week, settling with the bronze medal, whilst Kathrin finished 7th and Lin 20th. In the road race Kathrin finished 7th and Lin finished 17th.
