Pro Cyclist Couples 2020

Being in pro cyclist couples is tough, many many days spent away from home travelling the globe to race. If you’re racing in a different place to your partner, you might not see them for weeks or months. There are some riders racing in Australia over the last 5 weeks since the Tour Down Under. These riders will have been away from home for a long time.

Over the course of a season, men’s and women’s WorldTour riders jet off to all sorts of places, it’s tough to keep a relationship going. So who would do you think would understand that lifestyle? Another pro cyclist of course!

I thought about just presenting all of the pro cyclist couples I could find in a long list but there are better options. Especially once I saw the size of the list I’d put together! So, because everyone loves rankings, I’ve worked something out. I’ve given each rider a score out of 5 and added them together for an overall couple score. This way you can see which rider is the more successful in the couple too – it does vary!

Gradings

5 – A World Champion maybe, the very best and serial winners
4 – Regular winners, big names but maybe not the biggest
3 – Solid riders, maybe elite domestiques who get the odd win
2 – Up and coming, showing promise or less visible at races
1 – Very early days career-wise or a lower level pro cyclist
