Team SD Worx training in Costa Blanca

Team SD Worx has settled in Denia for the first ten-day training camp in preparation for the 2021 season. For the first two days, the women of the ‘best cycling team in the world’ did the last aerodynamic tests on the cycling track in Valencia. Then there were two photo and video days on the programme. Due to the bad weather conditions in Spain, the long training sessions through the mountainous area on the Costa Blanca started on Sunday, January 10.

Sporting manager Danny Stam is satisfied with the composition of the team for 2021: “This is an international team with many top riders, so we must be able to aim for victories on all fronts. The second line has become much better. Hopefully this will ensure that we are more widely represented in the finals and that we have more tactics to play out. ”

Only the British rider Anna Shackley was unable to travel to Spain, due to travel restrictions from the United Kingdom, making the 13 rider strong team almost complete. The team lives in a bubble, entirely according to the Covid-19 rules of the international cycling union UCI. Anna van der Breggen will be wearing the rainbow jersey of both the world champion on the road and the time trial for the coming season. Her great ambition is the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2021, where she will defend her title on the road, but also wants to rider again in the time trial for the medals.

The Olympics are an important goal, but I will also try to enjoy my last season as a cyclist. Next year I will take on my new role as sports director of this team ”, says Van der Breggen. “We have a new main sponsor and a strong team for the coming season, with which we will achieve many good results across the board!

As the new main sponsor, SD Worx is proud now that the team is wearing the company’s colours. “We stand behind the cycling team as one team and look forward ambitiously to the coming season. It is no coincidence that SD Worx, as a leading provider of people solutions, chose to sponsor the number 1 women’s cycling teams in recent years. Just like in HR and payroll, cycling brings talent, technology and teams together to take on the toughest challenges – in life and at work. Together with the team, our customers and employees, we are looking forward to many victories this season, ”said Kobe Verdonck, CEO of SD Worx.
