Trek extends with Telenet-Baloise Lions

Telenet-Baloise, AA Drink Young Lions and Sven Nys Academy continue with Trek

After an exhilarating 2019/2020 season, Trek will continue to support the full breadth of programs under the Telenet-Baloise Lions family. This support includes the men’s and women’s teams of Telenet-Baloise, the junior development program of AA drink, and the youth program of Sven Nys Academy as well as Sven Nys himself as an ambassador for cycling. With the full set of programs, a true pyramid of cycling takes shape, supporting not only professional and aspiring racers, but a community of riders.

“Trek is thrilled to continue its expansion with the entire ‘Lions’ family of programs,” said Tim Vanderjeugd, Trek sports marketing director. “This team and development structure represents everything that is right in sport, from a fun and healthy way to introduce riding to kids, to a top level professional cycling team that makes us fall in love with racing.”

Youth and the development of tomorrow’s talent continues to be a priority for the Lions. The team will continue with the AA Drink Young Lions as their preeminent development team, which just this season has seen Thibau Nys and Ward Huybs graduate to the elite category.

At the base of the development pyramid is the Sven Nys Academy, where the legend himself Sven Nys works with kid to introduce them to a love of riding bikes. Should young riders find a passion for competition, a full infrastructure of support awaits them through to the elite category of sport.
