Women’s European Championships Road Race 2019

Lisa Klein, Amy Pieters, Elena Cecchini

The 2019 European Championships were supposed to be somewhere else but it got taken off them and given last minute to Alkmaar back in April. I decided there and then that I was going to pay it a visit and here I am!

The race was on by Amy Pieters from her breakaway companions Lisa Klein and Elena Cecchini. On what was a brutally windy day, the Dutch set an infernal pace from the start, trying to distance many of their rivals. Once the breakaway gained the advantage, the Dutch stopped working and the peloton could never close the gap.

As usual, I took a camera and here’s some race photos from the European Championships.

The men’s photos from the following day can be found here.
